A member of Club de los Mondongueros Reno since 1998, Gary was asked by Tom Hallam to assume the duties of Dictator in 2007,
Gary was born on August 30, 1933, in Modoc, Indiana. His family moved a great deal, and Gary grew up during frequent moves across the southern and western U.S.
He served as an enlisted man in the U.S. Navy, and upon separation in 1956, used his GI Bill benefits for college and flying lessons at the famous Galvin Flying Service at Boeing Field in Seattle. Expanding his slate of licenses and ratings over the next few years while working at jobs outside aviation, he joined the U.S. Army Aviation Program, completed training in 1965 and became a Caribou pilot.
Upon separation in 1967, Gary joined Air America and flew a variety of airplane and mission types throughout the Southeastern Asian Sub-Continent for the following five years. After Air America, he became a classic “freight dog”, flying for a series of small cargo operators in airplane types from the venerable DC-3 to the classic Boeing 707.
Gary retired to Reno in 1998, and was invited by Tom Diehl to become a member of Club de los Mondongueros Reno.
He has served his Brothers Mondongueros as Dictator since 2007.
